Katrina Raftery left the Australian shores for London, United kingdom, soon after successfully completing her hairdressing apprenticeship in her hometown, Newcastle. Not long after arriving, she set her heart and soul on high quality training in the Toni & Guy hairdressing academy, pursuing her skills to editorial levels. Although this was rewarding, the thought of travelling as a freelance hairdresser for photo shoots needed to be accompanied with makeup skills.
Katrina then returned to Australia to study Makeup, full-time for 12 months and joined the award winning hairdressing team at NOK (Noddy’s on King) in Newtown. During this time, her career began to unfold due to finishing her creative makeup course and beginning to work on Australian fashion week, as well as Magazines such as Cosmo, Cleo, Harpers bazaar Vogue, Marie Claire, GQ and celebrities in the Womens weekly’s. Advertising trips and exotic locations also began with clients such as RM Williams, Tigerlily, Seafolly, BONDS, Zimmerman, Alice Mcall and Model Co.
Sydney was a new beginning, although London remained in her heart. She then returned there to fulfil the dreams of a much bigger industry in the creative editorial market. By securing an agent, she began to travel the world extensively for various UK and European magazines, such as Grazia, RED, Marie Claire, Zest Beauty, TATLER, Vogue, NYLON. She also worked across campaigns for THE BODY SHOP, BEN SHERMAN, H & M, NEW LOOK and TOP SHOP. Using her extensive knowledge in makeup, Katrina then began to assist renowned makeup artist Val Garland at numerous London Fashion weeks.
After years of investing her time and effort packing the perfect kit for location and travel, KATKIT ROAD Beauty Pro case / set bags became the next venture for Katrina Raftery who is now the CEO/Co-founder of this successful business that continues to grow.
